What is Consumer Credit Counseling / Debt Consolidation?
Most Consumer Credit Counseling agencies across the USA offer as part of their on going educational services a debt management program. The program ( DMP) combines all revolving charge accounts as well as collection accounts, medical bills and other unsecured debts into one monthly payment. Interest rates may be reduced or eliminated as well as late and over limit fees being stopped once enrolled in the DMP.
Is this a loan?
Delray Credit Counseling does not loan money. We service accounts enrolled in debt consolidations programs offered by most banks and finance companies in the USA that reduce or eliminate interest rates and stop late or over limit fees.
Is there a fee for Debt Management Program?
We are a non-profit agency. We charge no interest fees or late or over limit fees. A small administrative fee may be charged to cover handling costs.
Will this program stop harassing phone calls from creditors?
Typically when a consumer enters the program the collection calls will stop. If a consumer is being harassed by a debt collector they can refer to ” The Fair Debt Collections Practices Act” link on the home page of this website.
Does Debt Consolidation / Credit counseling affect credit rating?
Debt consolidations / credit counseling does not affect credit score one-way or the other. It is neither negative nor positive. If a consumer has any revolving charge accounts that are delinquent, those accounts may be brought up to date and show current after the 3rd consecutive on time payment.
